Notes

New elastic is now strung into the hems of the skirt and sweater and ought to make this ensemble last another 500 wearings or so. I felt it was worthy of an updated photo shoot!

2 PIECE SHORT SKIRT WITH OVERSIZED CABLE/SEED STITCH PATTERNED CARDIGAN
Look at the year of the magazine (1987) and you will see what I mean about timeless! I fell in love with the pattern immediately and took on the task of knitting the project some 20 years later. Add 3 years to THAT and you will find us right here at Ravelry still giving it the attention that it deserves!

One hole buttonholes and sewing on buttons by splitting the yarn is a must. Sewing twill tape to the inside of the shoulder seams and around the neck is especially effective in keeping seams from stretching and pulling. Also, crocheting the seams together allows for the knit pattern to meld together perfectly. The skirt is pull on with 1 1/2” elastic and is firmly sewn in place to eliminate any twisting. Collar stands up or lies flat, whatever your style. I suppose you could leave off the front shirt pocket but I think every detail adds to the polish of a garment.

I think that it fits as it should, meant to be a short well-fitted skirt under an over-sized shirt-like sweater jacket. I’ve added indoor and outdoor shots.
