My gauge was far too rough! My cowl is currently only about 18.5 inches in circumference, not 20.5….
But I’m hoping it will block wider.

My tension isn’t bad though. Not bad at all.

Before I’d finished, I realised it was too narrow and too long. So I did a quick rib and cast off, then had a think.
I decided to unpick the rib and last snowflake repeat, pretty though it was.
The length is better and I worked 4 rows of reverse stocking stitch. I hoped it would just curl over and make a satisfactory finish - but the whole top edge then curled forward….
I’m going to wash and block anyway and see if that helps.
On the upside, without the rib the top edge relaxed to the right width….

Blocking did the job! The width is now as per the pattern.
Still undecided on taking out the rolled edge and redoing the rib but less rows and using the invisible cast off.

The first pic is my friend wearing it!
I decided to leave the rolled edge, as when worn at the bottom, it sits nicely on the collar bone.
