Looked at lots of examples, he’s picky about the neckline… Measured him… Off we go.

28 Jan 17: Cast on last weekend, had him try the first few cm on, realised it’s too wide, ripped it out, cast on again. Better now, fit as expected by “Le Monsieur”.

03 Mar 17: I procrastinated. All this fiddly knitting, rethinking, remeasuring, rethinking, being afraid it is not perfect fit and having to rip back… Well, did not have to rip back in the end but still… Body finished, shoulder seams closed, wetblocked and tried on. Very good fit except for the front V neckline starting about 1 or 2cm too early. Will fix it with a couple of shortrows when doing the neckline finishing. Ready to pick up for sleeves.

14 Mar 17: Sleeve no. 1 was fiddly too. Quite some ripping back and reknitting. But I got the numbers now :)

06 Apr 17: Ends woven in last night and handed over - he likes it :) And me too, if only it wasn’t that scratchy, I might just steal it from him :D

24 Apr 17: The more it molded into the shape of his body, the shorter the sleeves became :( Yestderday I added 5cm to each sleeve. Much better :) But man, am I good at sewing in the ends

Knit Notes

CO 126sts.
Knit straight for ~47cm.
BO 5 underarm sts each side (2 for back, 3 for front » 59sts for back, 57sts for front).
Front and back: dec 1st each side ev. other row 5x, one last decrease 4 rows later.
Back: 47sts, 36r straight.
Shoulder/neckline shaping: 12 - 23 - 12sts; 1 shortrow 6sts.
Front: start neckline after 5 decs - set aside center st; dec 1 ev. 4 rows (garter st selvedge!); start shoulder shortrows when 13sts left (last neckline dec in shortrow).
3-needle bindoff @ shoulder.
Sleeves: picked up 11 (@7cm) - 20 - 11 - 20.
Upper cap: initial short row, sr2 4x.
Mid cap: 6x (until 5 sts remain before marker)
Lower cap: k1 add st each time (like sr2), dec right after each wrap 4x, close to round knitting wraps, first round after last wrap.
Start dec in first round, 52sts.
Dec ev other round 3x = 46sts.
Knit straight for 46r.
Dec next + ev 5r 3x = 4x total/38sts.
Dec ev 3/4r from there 5x = 28sts.
K 7r straight. (Added another 11r)
Loose BO.
71sts for neckline, tiny shortrows for front.
