The black version uses a 2-stitch mini-cable in place of the K2 ribs of the K2 P2 ribbing. One fewer set of short rows was worked, 52 sts between center markers, because this version was longer, and promised to be much wider, than the “regular” orange version. It is a bit less stretchy.

The red version used a size smaller needle along with a different yarn, the only red I had. This part-synthetic yarn is less stretchy and has less recovery.

To work mini-cable pattern:

Work K2 P2 rib pattern in Calorimetry for two rows.

In row 3, work mini-cable over each K2 rib as follows:
Leaving the next stitch on the left needle unworked, K the second stitch, leaving it on the needle; knit the first stich, then slide both stitches off needle.

Work three rows in ribbing, following instructions in Calorimetry. Repeat these last four rows until garment is completed.

Work cable twist as stitches are first removed then added back with short rows, although some of the cables will be a bit wonky with more or fewer rows between twists which will be disguised by the holes formed at ends of short rows.
