I love the shape of this hat; it has some fullness but it’s not too deep for me. The decreases are done as to make the hat quite flat on top. Great design feature.

Ribbing 144 sts; body 165 sts

27 sts = 4 ‘’ unblocked colorwork gauge
sts = 4 “ blocked colorwork gauge
27.5 sts = 4” corrugated ribbing; 20.5” total, unblocked

2 rows fewer ribbing, 10 CC purl, would be perfect length for this hat for the way I like a hat to fit. this has been a several year project to come to this conclusion. ;o)))

Pattern is 165 sts x 66 r, +12r corrugated ribbing

Now all I have to do is figure out a method for blocking which will keep the shape of the top of the hat and no block the heck out of the ribbing. I’m wearing it as it is, unblocked, for the time being…unusual for me.. but I’m going to try using a balloon combined with the Shetland technique of threading a piece of cotton through the ribbing before wetting, and tightening it up to dry.
