swatching. Looks like sz 8 needle, 14 st per 4”. I’ll calculate cast on from that.

as per Karen C, “Yarn Harlot says WASH THE SWATCH”, I did. Still 14” per 4”.

doing the calculations, casting on 137 with a sz 6 needle for ribbing+steek, will increase to 153 after ribbing.
Even remembered to do a short row section across the back :-)

just past 9”. The yarn looks pretty good knitted up, if one likes the “rustic” look, which I think was a goal of this particular design. I kept the bleached tips in when I spun it, and they add some interest in the knitted result.
Going to try hayseede’s “v” design on the back. Stay tuned.
The picture taken in the sun is the best representation of the color of the yarn.

Finished knitting; now crocheting the steeks. There is no sewing machine available, and the yarn is probably “sticky” enough, but I don’t want to take the chance. Always wanted to try crocheted steeks, anyway :-)
But I do love the color and the result! The light-colored flecks are the bleached tips of the fleece. I liked the way they looked, so if they didn’t pick or card out, I left them in.

Knitting complete, but for the button loops.
Must also procure buttons, weave in the (few) ends, block, and tack down the crocheted steeks, which were done with colorful sock yarn, because that’s what I had on hand :-)

Now blocked and with buttons, so it is completely finished. It is quite warm, and, as suspected, old-wool-itchy :-) I’ll wear it over something thick.

I wasn’t quite warm enough, so finally dug out the yarn to add another button.
