Like thousands of others, I signed up for Tien and Janet’s Stash Busting Scarf Weave A Long online workshop.
Obsessed over yarns in my stash. Did buy one cone of pale lilac acrylic boucle, for texture.
Weft yarns were two 8/2 Brassard cottons, a mystery varegiated (blue/green/gold/purple/brown) textured “something”. Might be silk. And the aforementioned Brassard acrylic boucle.
Warp is 8/2 Tencel, two colors held double.
Arranged colors.
First time success: winding 4 warp yarns at a time. I’d tried it before, but this was my first unqualified success. Used a warping board; next time I’ll try it on my mill.
Dyed tencel one color for the weft. Wasn’t sure I liked it; dyed another color. Eventually decided to use the two colors held double.
Second success: learned how to hemstitch. The pictures never did do it, but found a video, which worked. Of course, being a lefty, I had to turn it around in my head, first.
Third success: first fringe twist ever.
After washing, it softened up some. Maybe next time I’d sett less tightly, but it is still quite acceptable.
One of the fibers seemed to shrink a bit more, making an intriguing very slight ribbing texture to the finished fabric. I like it.

Postscript: It didn’t work out as a scarf. HOWEVER, my guild has a booth at ANWG next month, and we have 1/7 size mannequins, which we decided to dress in Noh Coats (the conference clothing item).
I needed to weave a band to piece out the width of the fabric; fished out all the original yarns and chose a pickup design with complemented the weave.
