Clue one complete.

A very relaxing, enjoyable knit.

I wasn’t going to commit to another MKAL until Autumn, but as I was destashing today these two yarns insisted on being knit together, this pattern had been whispering to me, so I gave in.

My yarn choices are very similar in value - it almost looks like one variegated skein knitted up together.

Clue two complete

The different yarn colours is a bit more noticeable now there is a chunk of CC2 knitted alone in this clue.

The fabric is knitting up with a very nice drape from the silk and bamboo content.

Clue three complete.

Starting to grow. At this point the colours, textures and shape remind me of the crest of a wave.

Clue four complete.

The lace section of this clue is my favorite so far. A bit tricker than some of the other sections, but very clever how it blends the previous elements together.

Clue five complete.

The rows may be getting longer, but I am zipping along nicely as the pattern continues to flow and becomes more instinctive. The teal blue colour is becoming more and more dominant, which I love.

Clue six complete.

Enjoyed this lace section very much. The variegated yarn isn’t showing up the lace as much as I would like, so I think this project will end up getting a pretty thuggish blocking !

Clue seven complete.

The final lace section has a bit more going on than some of the previous clues. I love how the design elements all pull together, building clue upon clue.

23.09.2017

Blocking this out with a slight curve. Its a tricky project to block as the lace really needs stretching and the garter not so much.

As I don’t have any curved blocking wires (yet) I found the best way to block this was to put a blocking wire on the first and last row of each garter panel, then focus on just stretching out the lace section in between the two wires one clue at a time. Once all the lace panels are stretched in to place the garter has lots of flexibility , To avoid overstretching the garter panels I found it easier to smooth out these sections with the palm of my hand from horizontal edge to horizontal edge.

Stretched out the lace shows a bit better, although not quite as much as I would like.

I’ve loved every minute of knitting this and can’t wait to gift it !
