October 2020 Shawl KAL
10-12-2020
Cast on today for the large size. 481 stitches to cast on. Used the Chinese Waitress cast on instead of a long tail - didn’t want to waste yarn or risk running short of yarn with that many stitches.
Rows are rather long (obviously), so progress is slow and there isn’t much to see yet. About 8 rows finished so far, I’ll probably have to finish all the ruffle edging before a photo will look like much of anything but a cord around the cable needle.

Finished the pleated ruffle! I never thought that section would end. I am not near a scale to weigh my yarn, but if I had to venture a guess it used half of my skein just with those rows. It’s a bottom up design, so things get faster from here.

Finished the first braid and the set up rows for the slip stitch section. Next row starts the beading. The rows are shorter already so progress is a bit faster, but beading will slow it down some.
10-22-2020
Through the first two repeats of the beaded slip stitch section. The rows get slightly shorter each time, but it’s still a lot of stitches to work and a lot of repeats to do.
10-23-2020
6 repeats of the slip stitch beaded section complete. Slightly more than halfway there.
10-24-2020
Finished the slip stich beaded section. Next up is the second braid, but with half the number of stitches it should be totally managable.

Off the needles! Once you get through to that last section and the rows get shorter and shorter rather quickly, it’s almost impossible to stop until you are done. Didn’t use as much yarn as I thought it would, likely because I dropped back a second needle size to get the fabric I liked.
