Followed hint to not start knitting in round until after 3rd round but to slide stitches and bring yarn round like with an i-cord. This helps keeps the start loose. (You can see it will tighten nicely by pulling gently on the tail end.)

I really don’t know how people get gauge. Even after blocking my starter swatch I’m no way near to 16 st/inch.

Will do another start with 5 mm needles…
