Spray super grip for slippers
Nicest SSK:
the nicest and easiest way to ssk….slip as if to knit, slip as if to PURL. Place your left needle into the front of the slipped sts and knit them together. AND THEN, genlty pull on the back loop of the ssk and remove a bit of the slack from the top loop. ta da! or
* even SSK by twisting the second stitch
For picking up stitches:
* To make a slipped-stitch edging in the first place: on the knit rows, hold the yarn in the back of the work and slip the first stitch of the row as if to knit. On purl rows, hold the yarn in front and slip the first stitch as if to purl.
Knit a selvage.
* Add 2 more total stitches when casting on. Now you will always knit the first stitch and SLIP the last stitch, making sure to bring yarn toward you before slipping, so that it will be ready to knit on your return.

Neat Rib (nice k to purl transition)
- purl your 1st purl stitch, bring the working yarn to the back of your work and give it a slight and gentle pull. You can actually see/feel the slack coming out. then, bring the working yarn back to the front and purl your next stitch.
Gauging in the round
- K2tbl (knit two stitches through the back loop), P2, work 6″ of stitches for your swatch, p2, k2tbl

Shadow Short row
Shadow Short Row Method
Shadow Wrap / Twin Stitch method
At the short-row turns, you make a “shadow” or “twin” stitch by making a lifted increase in the turning stitch. This new stitch will then be worked together with its matching original stitch when finishing the short rows.
There is a really nice tutorial on this method, with pictures, here.

06-16-2024 reversible garter technique
Meg Swansen
In garter stitch, if you do not object to a series of decorative holes, you can make the color-change totally reversible; no wrong side. See my Anniversary Shawl (Wool Gathering #99). On the first row of the new color, work (yo, k2tog) across all sts. Turn, knit back. Voila. Elizabeth Zimmermann invented this many decades ago for horizontal stripes in ribbing with no wrong side when you turn up the lower edge of a hat. I adapted it to garter stitch.
