The hat is worked bottom up in rounds with 1x1 ribbing. The knitting starts with the Italian (tubular) cast-on, which gives the hat a factory-like edge. In this instruction-pattern, you will find calculations for specific yarn and gauge, as well as formulas for adjusting the gauge for other yarns.
