Welcome to Hookanory
Home of Humpfree the Rainbow Humpty!

Designer - Deb Ward

My aim is to write fun and easy to follow patterns aimed particularly to those new to amigurumi crochet or those who want to learn.

I have designed my range of ‘Humpfree’ patterns with colour coded ‘long-hand’ instructions that can be ticked off round by round to enable a high success, cute and fun outcome from a simple pattern.

The story of Humpfree and the pattern to make him, was borne from the Easter lockdown of 2020. Designed with the intention of speading some happiness and creativity among those in isolation, and as a way of helping the ‘Rainbow Children’ feel a little happier and safer about having to stay indoors, with a little Rainbow Humpty to keep them company.

My own personal crochet journey started as a way of tackling PTSD a few years ago and has since grown into an all consuming passion and now as a new business venture which I hope will encourage others to take up this amazingly rewarding craft!

In a former life I’ve been a Textiles and Art Teacher, had a clothing brand , made jewellery and currently have a geeky business (@geekboutiqueuk) with my partner Scott designing and making Geeky clothing, accessories and homewares with an eco focus, but @Hookanory and @humpfree are my own babies - to which I intend to bring together my skills and experiences in teaching and design to develop my brand with patterns, tutorials, workshops (after covid!), and kits.

But for now I hope you join me on this journey, with Humpfree the Rainbow Humpty and his friends!

Please share your makes with me and look out for the Hookanory Crochet Club on Facebook.
