As a former yarn shop owner, the idea for Olio Knits stemmed from the frustration I saw in customers who wanted to take their knitting to the next level. Keeping their knitting easy at the same time was key. Most beginning knitters excitedly knit a dozen scarves for all of their loved ones as well as a teacher, mail carrier and hair stylist. But, how many scarves does a person need? There may even be a desire to go further, take it to the next level and perhaps even be challenged. At the same time, most knitters want to be able to watch tv, listen to a book on tape or have a conversation while knitting.

The goal of Olio Knits is to provide easy to follow patterns that you will wear and be proud of when you are finished. All of the patterns have been tested on actual knitters so that the wording is as clear as possible. While owning a knit shop, I found that customers would often bring patterns into the store for a translation. After I explained the pattern, I don’t know how many times I heard a customer say “why didn’t they just say that!”

In addition to owning a yarn shop, I am also the designer and owner of Sue P. Knits which has been in business for 24 years. At present my designs can primarily be found in the Artful Home catalog as well as at boutiques around the country. So, I actually used my Textiles and Clothing degree!

The hope of Olio Knits is to bring you help, take the intimidation factor out of following a pattern and progress your knitting as well!
Olio

noun, plural olios. 1. a dish of many ingredients. 2. Informal. olla podrida (def 2). 3. a mixture of heterogeneous elements; hodgepodge. 4. a medley or potpourri, as of musical or literary selections; miscellany.

My plan for Olio Knits is to expand the repertoire of patterns, beginning with easy, expanding on the initial pattern and make it a touch more challenging. Hence, a medley or potpourri of knitting selections. Please join me on the knitting journey.

Happy Knitting,

Sue
