Ravelry Free Pattern Downloads
… it is very short-term.
Q: I’ve updated my PDF file. How can I let people who have downloaded the PDF know that they need the new one? A: Use the “send update” feature, but be aware that people do not get a notice about the update for free patterns. You can post a note in the pattern page that the PDF was updated, and the date, and rename the file with a version number, and this will help people to know if they have the most up-to-date file.
Confirmed as of 2022, update notices will show …

You can always go remove something that you have added to your library by clicking on the image of the item in your library and choosing the delete button. So, feel free to play around with it so you can get the hang of how it works.
A big advantage to having a library that is up to date with all of the patterns that you have is that you can search the patterns that are in your library without …

… ’t sure what language the pattern comes in, you can find little flags that indicate the available languages just above the “about this pattern” area on the right of the page.

Thursday Tip: Friend Activity
… , it’s easy to do – just go to their Ravelry profile page and click on the “add to my friends” button:
On Ravelry, a “friend” can be someone you don’t even know and there is no approval process or expectation of being friended back, so please feel free to add folks to your friends for any reason. One of the best reasons to friend someone is if you think they make awesome stuff and you’ll like to follow what they are making through the Friend Activity tab. If you feel shy about adding people to …

How do I create an ad image?
… ’ll need to have some kind of text on the ad - it can be a logo, or tagline, or the name of your product/design/service - just something to make it clear what is being advertised and/or who your company is.
Many of our advertisers have found the free online photo editor Pixlr to be very handy for creating ads:
http://www.pixlr.com
I suggest saving your ad image as a .png file, rather than a .jpg, to help prevent some text compression issues that can occur with the .jpg format.

How do I find and get a pattern?
… can find tips on using the advanced search in this video.
Ravelry has an extensive user-maintained database, but not every pattern is available on Ravelry. If it is a Ravelry download, you will see either “buy it now” and “add to cart” or a “free” link in the upper right of the page. If not, you can look under “published in” to find information about the book, magazine, website or other source where you can find the pattern. Information about any pattern can be added to Ravelry, so the pattern …

The last button to the right will bring up a list view of your projects:

Thursday Tip: Forum Post Formatting
… text formatting in the forums. You’ll be opening the wiki page with info on our text editor. We can’t fit shortcut buttons for everything that the text editor can do in that little grey bar, so read that wiki page if you want to do something I haven’t covered in this post. I learned more about how our text editor works by writing this post, and if you want to get straight to work trying out all the stuff you learned, feel free to use this thread in the Help group …

Like all the information in your Ravelry profile, filling this in is completely and totally optional – so if this isn’t information you’d be willing to share, feel free to keep it blank! Tip: How to Get Hearts ❤️
… the only way a fellow Raveler might stumble across your project, it might come up in our projects advanced search. Here are some ways to make sure your project shows up in appropriate searches.
Use the title, notes, and tag fields. When searchers enter free text into the search box, those fields are among those searched. I’ve used search terms like the name of a favorite TV show to find fan projects, techniques to find example projects, and holidays to find seasonal projects. (And here’s a blog …
