At a thrift store, I found a granny square rectangle shawl. This shawl measured 46 7/8” wide by 22.25”, and was comprised of two large granny squares seamed together with a single crochet join. While I was not crazy about the colors and there was also some paint that got on it at some point, I was in love with the idea, so finally, this week I was able to put together my own version of it.

Materials:

  • 606 - 808 Yards of Worsted Weight Yarn - I used Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Yarn in Brown (150 - 200 Yards), Burnt Pumpkin (75 - 100 Yards, Sungold (6 - 8 Yards), Cranberry (225 - 300 Yards), and Dark Olive (150 - 200 Yards)
  • I9/5.5mm Crochet Hook
  • Tapestry Needle for Weaving in Ends

Material Notes:
Yarn Alternatives: Red Heart’s With Love, Berroco’s Vintage Yarn.

Time Spent:

  • Each Square: About 2 hours
  • 3 Square Shawl: About 6 hours
  • 4 Square Shawl: About 8 hours

Measurements:
45 - 60”

Gauge:
14 DC by 8 Rows = 4” Square

Abbreviations:
DC - Double Crochet
