Old River Road is a traditional Henley pullover with a modern twist. It’s the perfect pullover to wear with everything. Picture it over a linen dress or with your favorite jeans and boots. Timeless style and total comfort!

The textured stitch pattern is so easy to memorize that it doesn’t even require a chart! You can choose your hemline finish too and even do the contrast finish on the Henley button placket which is really fun.

Construction is top-down and in the round in a completely seamless manner. The yoke and body are worked back and forth until the front Henley opening is closed and then the body is worked in the round.

The front plackets are worked in a smooth double knit finish that it looks great on both sides when unbuttoned and it’s so much easier than it sounds! It’s also a great place to stash yarn ends - just tuck them inside. Collar stitches are picked up from the cast on edge to add stability to the neckline since we don’t want that to stretch out.

Old River Road will look great in any yarn that meets gauge and has good drape and stitch definition. I do recommend a smooth, equal weight yarn for the contrast color.

Inspiration: Old River Road is where I’ve run and walked for almost 25 years, never tiring of going back and forth along the Willamette River which is always changing depending on the tides at the Pacific Ocean. I’ve watched deer, seals, otters, beavers (or nutria?), bald eagles, blue heron, osprey, a huge barge that nearly got stuck going around the island, and often see the familiar faces of friends and neighbors.
