Christmas isnโ€™t Christmas without a Nativity set!

All the character dolls are knitted similarly with simple colour changes and added details.
Instructions are included for:

  1. Mary
  2. Joseph
  3. Baby Jesus
  4. Manger
  5. Three Kings
  6. Angel
  7. Shepherd
  8. Sheep
  9. Donkey
  10. Camel

I have used 13 different colours, but donโ€™t be put off by this as you only need small amounts of yarn so this is a great way to use up remnants from your yarn stash.

ABOUT THE PATTERN: The pattern has row numbers for each step so you donโ€™t lose your place, instructions for making the set plus photos, a list of abbreviations and explanation of some techniques, a materials list and recommended yarns. The pattern is 10 pages and written in English.

TECHNIQUES: Most pieces are knitted flat (back and forth) on a pair of straight knitting needles. You need to know how to knit, purl, increase and decrease, knit stripes (change colour at the end of a row) and do some seaming. You will also need to know how to knit i-cord (a knitted tube worked on two DPNs.

  • A pair of straight 3.25mm knitting needles (US 3)
  • 4 ply acrylic yarn; less than 50g in each colour
  • Toy filling
  • Black embroidery thread
  • Optional notions include blusher or crayon to flush the cheeks, and cocktail sticks to strengthen the shepherdโ€™s crook and donkeyโ€™s legs.

FINISHED SIZES: The adult doll figures are 4.5โ€ / 11 cm tall, Jesus in Manger is 2.75โ€ / 4 cm long, Sheep is 1.5โ€ / 4 cm tall, and Camel and Donkey are 3.25โ€ / 8 cm tall
