SKILLS NEEDED
This pattern is suitable for an adventurous beginner knitter. It is important that you know the basic knitting stitches - knit and purl - and also how to knit in the round. Tutorials are included for more advanced techniques and transitions.

TUTORIALS

YARN
One skein (437 yards) of Prema Witch Handmade - 70/20/10 Merino Wool/Royal Alpaca/Mulberry Silk 4 ply fingering, or similar yarn. You will need every last yard and should plan on frogging your swatch and using the yarn to finish your Abeona Bandana.

The Abeona Bandana was also test knit in the following fibers:

  • Knit Picks Gloss Fingering
  • Knit Picks Alpaca Cloud Fingering
  • Lion Brand Summer Nights
  • Malabrigo Silkpaca Lace

This bandana will work best in a yarn with lots of drape, and may also work well in a Light Fingering or Lace weight yarn that meets gauge. Working this bandana in a plant fiber such as cotton, bamboo, or linen might work, but may give the bandana a different feel, proceed in the spirit of curiosity and experimentation.

NEEDLES
(1) US2 (2.75 mm) straight or circular needle.*
(1) US3 (3.25 mm) circular needle.
or size needed to meet gauge.

NOTIONS

  • 9 stitch markers.
  • 14 removable stitch markers - for dividing sts for picking up and knitting border.
  • Darning needle - for weaving in ends.
