Aguacero Cardigan is an open front, top down cardigan with raglan sleeves and an undulating stitch pattern along the center front edges. Light waist shaping creates a flattering fit, with lightly cabled rib panels at the back and sleeves add a slimming effect. Wear your cardigan open for an easy layer to wear with your favorite casual dresses or jeans, or dress it up with a belt or a shawl pin to highlight your waist. There are eight sizes offered to fit bust sizes 32” - 60”. Choose a semi-solid yarn with a nice drape to create a project you’ll wear and love for years.

You will receive 2 PDFs with your purchase. The pattern file PDF includes full written and charted instructions, with detailed schematic and measurements. The 2nd PDF is a pattern workbook that will help you work up your project! You’ll get 2 pages of step-by-step construction tutorials, and each size has a 3-page Shaping Table to keep track of each and every row as you work it.

What’s a shaping table? Shaping Tables are a tool that’s designed to work as a row checklist and at-a-glance reference sheet to help you work up your sweater, whether you just need to keep track of which row you last stopped on, or if you want a little bit of help combining “at the same time” instructions as described in the pattern. You’ll never have to remember which row of the stitch pattern you should be working, or if you need to work shaping on that row or not - the Shaping Table keeps track of everything for you! Check out the last photo to see a Shaping Table preview!

Suggested Yarn: Briar Rose Fibers Wistful, or other DK weight yarn that knits to gauge

Sizes: 32 (36, 40, 44, 48, 52, 56, 60)” / 81.5 (91.5, 101.5, 111.5, 122, 132, 142, 152.5) cm finished bust circumference, with fronts overlapping and closed. Sample shown is 36”, worn with 2” of negative ease.

Yarn Requirements: 1120 (1225, 1355, 1500, 1660, 1855, 2000, 2150) yds / 1025 (1120, 1240, 1395, 1520, 1700, 1830, 1965) m

Gauge: 19 sts and 27 rows = 4” / 10 cm in Stockinette st

Needles and Notions: US Size 5 / 3.75mm circular needles long enough to accommodate stitches, US size 5 / 3.75mm DPNs, cable needle, stitch markers, stitch holder or waste yarn, tapestry needle
** Note, you will be working the sleeves in the round. You may need to adjust your needle size in order to maintain gauge.

A note about the yarn: The put-up for Briar Rose Fibers Wistful is officially 8oz/500 yds, but each of my skeins was very generous, around 9oz. If using the recommended yarn, you may be able to squeak by with 2 (2, 3, 3, 3, 4, 4, 4) skeins if using the recommended yarn. To be extra safe, stick with the 3 (3, 3, 3, 4, 4, 4, 5) skeins recommended. If you have leftovers, you can always make yourself a matching Aguacero Cowl with your leftovers!
