Allonia is a colour work hat in three sizes.
The design is worked seamlessly from crown to band in the round.
Use two or more colours to make a perfect hat for all the members of the family. Use contrasting colours for a bold statement and complimentary colours for a subtle look.

Designed to be worn with negative ease at the band and plenty of slouch.
Pattern is easily shortened if the wearer likes less slouch.

The pattern has full written directions and a chart for the colourwork, other than the set up row.

Sizes - head circumference
M 48cm/19 inches
L 55cm/22 inches
XL 63cm/25 inches
Length as written approximately 25cm/10 inches

Yarn requirement
95-110m/100-120 yards each of two colours

Note: gauge is measured in colour work pattern, please ensure you work in the round

There are a number of cast ons designed specifically for starting in the round - knit on, magic circle (this one uses a crochet hook) and belly button (which is a type of provisional cast on).
Knit on and belly button both mimic the way the thread is drawn through the remaining stitches when you knit from the band up to the crown.

There is no reason to not use a regular knit on or backwards loop cast on and threading your tail through the beginning to close the hole.
