Here are three balaclavas in four sizes ranging from toddler to adult male. Small children love them because they keep their ears as warm as toast and they particularly enjoy the animal version with cat or bear ears. I have gone down one needle size to give a denser and warmer finished garment. The pixie balaclava has a fairisle design and a slight point at the crown. It includes instructions for an optional three needle cast off and a Latvian braid. The balaclavas can be knitted in the round or in rows. Either way there is a minimum of sewing up to do. They take between 2 and 3 x 50g balls of DK yarn depending on the style and make great stocking fillers for Christmas.
