The body is an A-line shape, you slowly increase throughout the body with beautiful decorative YO increases. The sleeves are then picked up and knit in the round, you decrease slowly to create wide and cozy sleeves.

Yardage may vary if your gauge/yarn is different.

Sample uses: Madelinetosh Prairie (100% SW Merino single ply, 840yds/115g) in the colorway ‘Glazed Pecan’ & Knit Picks Aloft (72% Super Kid Mohair/ 28% Silk, 260yds/25g) in the colorway ‘Oat’.

A Note On Choosing Yarn: The gauge can also be achieved with fingering, DK or worsted, but the drape and heaviness of the fabric will change. A worsted weight yarn at this gauge will create a much heavier and sturdy cardigan than the two lace weights held together which creates a super lofty and drapey cardigan. If you choose to use a different yarn weight you will need to experiment with needle sizes to find what gives you the correct gauge. A woolen spun worsted weight would be ideal if you plan to use worsted because it’s so lightweight.

NEEDLES
Gauge: US 7 (4.5 mm) 24″ {60 cm} (or longer) and your preferred sleeve needles (12″ {30 cm}, 16” {40 cm}, DPNs or magic loop).
Or size needed to match gauge.
Rib: set of circular needles 2 sizes smaller than what you meet gauge with in the same cable lengths. In this case US 5 (3.75 mm).

OTHER MATERIALS
yarn needle, stitch markers, scrap yarn

NOTES

  • This pattern has been professionally tech edited for every size.
  • This pattern has been test knit for sizes 1-11, I was unable to find testers for sizes 12, 13, or 14.
  • The cardigan is an A-line shape and uses YO in the body to increase. This creates small decorative holes in the body alone those increase lines. If you don’t want that, you can always sub in a M1R/M1L increase instead.
