Apple Bottom Beanie
This pattern uses fisherman’s rib to create an extra thick and stretchy protective layer for your fruit, to keep it from getting bruised or dinged in a lunchbox or bag.
A perfect little project to:
- celebrate apple season or prepare for back to school
- try fisherman’s rib for the first time
- use up stray minis or scraps - it uses about 20g of DK yarn or fingering held double
It is worked flat from the bottom up and then seamed. Gauge is given but is not critical. Wool is recommended due to its elasticity and memory. Plant fibers like cotton will stretch but will not shrink back to cling to the fruit as snugly.
Video links are included for the following techniques:
- Left and right increases
- Fisherman’s rib
- Twisted stitches
- Elastic bind-off
- Vertical seaming
