In the spirit of the Piper Princess Dress, I designed the Ashlin Princess Dress for a beautiful little girl’s first birthday party. Ashlin loves butterflies, so I created a dress that floats and flounces, making any little girl the star of the party.

The bodice for the Ashlin Princess Dress is worked in the round from the bottom up, and the foundation chain is easily adjustable so you can create a garment that fits your own princess to a tee. The petals are attached individually, and you can add as many or as few as you want. Instructions are also given for adding strips of tulle so your princess looks like she’s floating on air.

For this project, you’ll need a medium-sized button and about a yard of tulle or netting.
