Aurinko Sun Hat
Aurinko is Finnish for sun and this cute sun hat works up quickly in any size you like, from newborn to grandpa, in worsted weight cotton yarn.
With the help of some very simple maths, you can make your hat fit anyone perfectly. The only thing you need is the head measurement of the wearer - plus yarn and hook of course.
This is the perfect project to use up your yarn leftovers. You don’t even have to swatch to test your tension, as gauge doesn’t matter! Sounds good doesn’t it?! The pattern uses American crochet terms.
What do I need?
-
About 150-200 m / 160-220 yards worsted weight cotton yarn (c. 75-85 m / 80-95 yards per 50g). I used two colours, alternating every other round, but you can use any number of colours you like, or make it in one solid colour.
-
4 mm / G crochet hook - aim for a fairly dense fabric
-
Tapestry needle, scissors and measuring tape
