This is a digital PDF crochet pattern that offers instructions on how to crochet a shark balaclava for toddlers. This is not a finished item.
When purchasing this digital pattern, you get 1 PDF file that includes detailed written pattern instructions with pictures of all steps how to make this balaclava.

My 2 year old son loves wearing anything I make, whether it’s actually meant for him or not.
So with this design I ventured into making something fun that he (and other like minded toddlers) will easily relate to, but also something useful during chilly winter months. If you have little ones who love snuggly things, look no more - this is something you’ll definitely want to make for them! Plus, if your tiny human is a beanie/hat hater, this balaclava will for sure change their mind!
BB Shark Balaclava is a quick make with a great snuggly texture, that is produced by a play on the basic crochet stitch. Since there is a bit of stitch marking and sewing, the pattern is rated intermediate. Nevertheless, I believe that beginners could tackle this pattern without too much trouble, since everything is explained in detail and supported by lots of helpful pictures.

If you like what you hear, here’s more info on needed materials, finished size and gauge:

  • The design uses 3 colors, but you can easily make it in a single color as well.
  • The pattern calls for 3.5 mm and 4 mm crochet hooks and DK weight yarn. You’ll need approximately 166 yds or 152 m of yarn in light blue color for the balaclava and shark fin, 60 yds or 55 m of yarn in dark blue color for bottom ribbing, and some scraps of a white DK yarn for the teeth.
  • BB Shark Balaclava is a one-size pattern, designed for toddlers ages 2-5.
  • Finished balaclava without blocking measures approximately 13.5” (35 cm) in length (from shark fin top to balaclava bottom) and 9” (23 cm) in width.
  • Gauge: 15 sts x 12 rows in extended single crochet (ESC) = 4” x 4” (10 cm x 10 cm)
