Those diagonal bobbles may not be “real” bobbles, but they sure are cute. They also add a lovely texture to a simple beanie sized for the whole family, from babies all the way up to adults with large heads.

This beanie can be encouraged to have a pixie top, by pinching the center point and pulling it upward. Or you can discourage the pixie point by flattening it with your palm.

The pattern may be worked in any worsted weight yarn that meets gauge of 14 sc = 4 in./10 cm.

It’s worked from the top down in spiral rounds.

Here are the yarn requirements for Baby (Toddler, Child/Adult Small, Adult Medium, Adult Large) sizes:
• About 85 (105, 120, 140, 150) yd./
78 (96, 110, 128, 137) m

You’ll also need:
• Size H-8 (5 mm) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
• Stitch marker
• Yarn needle

The pattern, which uses U.S. crochet terms, has been tested in The Happy Hookers Hangout -- twice, actually. The second test came after an original tester suggested adding child sizes to the pattern.

The blue hat in the photos is the child/adult small size worked in a stretchy yarn. It is worked at the suggested length for a child size and makes a sassy, short-ish beanie on an adult.
