“Nature tops the list of potent tranquilizers and stress reducers. The mere sound of moving water has been shown to lower blood pressure.” -Hunter Doherty “Patch” Adams

This pattern can be found in issue four of Nomadic Knits which is available as a digital download through Ravelry (click the e-book link above).

Intriguing texture peeking out from the top of your favorite boots makes this little project fun to show off. Using roughly an average sized skein in any yarn weight from fingering to bulky, they make for an easy and inexpensive gift knit. Sized from 8 to 20 inches in circumference, they will fit most body types. After whipping up your first pair in a weekend, you’ll be wanting one in every color, and your daughters will be begging to learn how to knit just to make their own. (Who are we kidding, they’ll be pestering you to knit them, or they’ll just sneak into your closet to “borrow” yours!)

Sizes: 8-20”/20.5-51cm finished calf circumference; to be worn with 0-2”/0-5cm negative ease. See last picture for schematic. A: 8-20” (20.5 - 51cm) in 1”/2.5cm increments; B: 5”/ 12.5cm for shortie boots and 6.5”/ 16.5cm for mid-calf or taller boots.

Needles: Size to achieve gauge, plus 1 size larger; both in preferred style of needles for knitting in the round. 16”/40cm circular will work for sizes greater than 13”/33cm.

Gauge: varies between 13 and 20 = 4”/10cm over textured stitch pattern; see chart.
