Felted Bowtie Christmas Stocking

Size: One size – see sketch.
Numbers in parentheses are before felting.
Yarn consumption: 300g = 6 skeins
Recommended yarn: Alaska from Drops (50g = approx. 70m).
The color in the pictures is “Wine Red – Uni color 11.”
Gauge: Before felting: 17 stitches x 20 rows = 10cm x 10cm.
After felting: 20 stitches x 27 rows = 10cm x 10cm.
Needles: Circular and double-pointed needles size 5.

The Christmas stocking is knitted in the round on a circular needle from the top down. The upper edge is folded over, with 2 holes for the hanging cord. Vertical purl ridges are knitted, where the bow will be added at the end. The heel is shaped with short rows. The toe is shaped with decreases.
Stitches are picked up in the purl ridges, and the bow is knitted sideways from each side in seed stitch. The hanging cord is a knitted i-cord.
Finally, the Christmas stocking is washed in the machine to felt.
