This shawl came about because of a cognition issue I was having, and I couldn’t concentrate enough to knit a complicated pattern, but I wanted to knit! I also had a gorgeous mini skein set I really wanted to use – and voila! Brain Games was born.

This fun asymmetrical shawl has just enough things going on so that you won’t get bored, but it’s easy enough that you won’t need the pattern once you get going on it!

Materials: As pictured:
Yarn:

Your MC: 1 skein fingering weight yarn in a solid or tonal color 480 yds. This color will be used between each of your other colors, so it really needs to be completely different.

AND,

Your CC’s: Mini skeins – as many as you want in colors that make you happy. You can literally use a different color in each of the CC sections.
I used a Yummy two ply 12 toes set from Miss Babs but this pattern is perfect for Advent sets or stash busting.

Needles: This is personal. I used a US size 6 but my test knitters were happy using 4’s and 5s – so you do you! Especially as the finished size of your shawl will really depend on the amount of yarn in your MC. What you’re really aiming for is a needle size that gives you a nice drapey fabric.

Size: Because of the nature of the pattern you can simply stop whenever your shawl is right for you – or you run out of minis! But, using a 480 yd MC and 480 yds or so of minis, your shawl will be somewhere around 61 x 58 inches as pictured here.

Gauge: This shawl should have nice drape. That’s it. Gauge will depend on what needles you choose and how tightly you knit. But I think US size 5 or 6’s will be perfect!
