There is a Knit-A-Long going for this shawl pattern over in the KNITTING EXPAT PODCAST group co-hosted along with the HUE LOCO Podcast running from 1st May 2016 - 30th June 2016 so make sure to come join in the fun!

The name for this shawl came from the stitch patterns in the shawl and time of year this design has been released. The textured stitch in the body of the shawl looks to me like little budding flowers while the lace border reminds me a lot of Bluebell flowers. Additionally May is generally Bluebell season in the UK and thought it appropriate as this is the time of year the shawl has been published, along with this being the perfect Spring/Summer layer to wear during a cool day or evening.

• Yarn: 200g total yarn needed- 100g - 400m/440yards of fingering weight yarn for the main body and 100g – 400m/440yards of fingering weight yarn for the lace edging. Yarns used for this sample were Hue Loco Yarns on the Spun Base (80/10/10 SW Merino/ Cashmere/ Nylon) in the Gem Colourway (366m/400yards in 100grams) for the main body and Olive Colourway (366m/400yards in 100grams) for the lace edge.

• Needles – 4mm (US 6) on Long Cable to accommodate all the stitches at the end.

• Notions – Stitch Markers if you wish to mark out the lace repeats.

• Gauge – Gauge is really not too important with this shawl as long as you like the fabric you are getting. As a reference the sample shown had a gauge of 24sts / 4 inches before blocking.

Finished Size of Shawl:

Approx. 215cm (85 inches) on the longest edge & 40cm (16 inches) deep.

Please note finished size will vary depending on gauge, how many pattern repeats you knit, and how extensively the shawl is blocked.

Total Yarn used for sample shown was approximately 80 grams (300m/330yds) for the Main Body & approximately 90 grams (330m/360yds) for the Lace Edging & Bind Off.

Note the garter border and bind off used approximately 20grams of yarn (75m/80yds), so if you knit your shawl larger than the sample shown you may need to allow more yarn to finish the edging.

Notes are provided throughout the pattern on the number of repeats knit for the sample size shown, however the pattern is adjustable to suit however much yarn you have.

I have also included notes at the end of the pattern on how to knit a smaller mini shawl if you wish to knit one for a doll.
