Adorn your little one’s head with this sweet butterfly fluttering her wings beneath the breeze.
This adorable lightweight kerchief is a quick and fun one skein summer project. The perfect gift for your little darling who loves butterflies. Knitted in one piece with no seams, no button closure it’s easy to make and easy to put on.

Butterfly kerchief is knit in one piece. The brim is worked first in the round and then the body in flat. Wings are shaped with short rows. If you aren’t comfortable with work in the round, you may knit the brim in flat. Then add 1 st at the beginning and end of Cast on Row and sew the seam when the piece is finished.

I am using here the shadow wrap short row technique developed by Alice Yu. It’s easy to make and gives very nice and neat result on both sides of knitting, but you are free to use whatever method you like.
