Caffeinated is a part of the Geek-A-Long pattern series. The Geek-A-Long was created to raise awareness for Child’s Play Charity. $1 from each sale of this pattern will be donated to Child’s Play. So brew up a fresh mug of your favorite caffeine based beverage and congratulate yourself on making the world a little brighter.

Caffeine and I have a deep and abiding relationship. There’s something about that first sip of coffee in the morning that can’t be fully quantified. It makes me happy, warm, and most importatntly: AWAKE. Caffeinated is my attempt to knit that feeling. This squishy brioche and double knit shawl features the molecules for caffeine and dopamine. Whether you are a scientist or science enthusiast, Caffeinated lets the world know where your priorities are: yarn and sweet sweet caffeine.

Worked in soft, vibrant, Vacation Yarn by Lattes & Llamas, the shawl is surprisingly light and airy, but so squishy and warm that it can easily span multiple seasons.

Recommended Yarn: 2 balls (100g) Lattes & Llamas Vacation Yarn in 2 sharply contrasting colors. Sample is knit in Daredevil (red) and Baskerville (cream).

Needles: US4/3.5mm and US5/3.75mm 24” circular needles (longer needles will be fine, but don’t go shorter than 24”) or size needed to obtain gauge.

Gauge: 13sts and 16 rows = 2” in double knitting on US 4. Gauge should be taken on a blocked swatch.
