This is an excellent way to use all those gorgeous cake yarns and super easy to work with just a little bit of folding to give an interesting design.
The front and back are made with two straight pieces seamed at the centre back, folded and then seamed at the sides. The sleeves are picked up and worked down (either flat or in the round). There are no borders to pick up, although you could add a crochet or knit trim if you wish.
The body of the garment is worked in garter stitch and the sleeves in reverse stocking stitch. I personally prefer the sleeves to be a bit lighter in weight than the body and it uses less yarn; however you could work them in garter stitch if you prefer. The sleeve length is easily adjustable
This garment looks best with about 4 inches of positive ease, which means the first size would suit someone who measures 34 inches. The model is wearing the version with an actual measurement of 40 inches.
The jacket could be worked in any worsted weight yarn
