This is a classic story of yarn meets girl, girl designs shawl around yarn. I love Lilacs and when I first moved to South Texas, as a teen, I was overjoyed to see them here, too. But, what I thought were Lilacs were actually blooming Mountain Laurel trees. No matter, they are still gorgeous! As it happens the genus name for this pretty tree is Calia.

This is a triangular shawlette, knit from the neck edge down. I used every bit of the yarn, shown in the modeled shawl. If you are using the same yarn (and yardage), you will want a cast on tail of max 6 inches (and maybe a backup plan).
