This pattern is now split in two different patterns: hat and cowl

Knitted in fast and easy garter stitch, this very funny cowl / hat reminds me the broken half eggshell that Calimero wears on his head. (Calimero, a little black chick, is the main character of a cartoon I particularly loved in my childhood.) The cowl is long enough to look great folded in half or unfolded over your nose and makes a really useful everyday cowl. It can be transformed in a hat in 30 seconds! Make one or a dozen of pompoms and chose a different one every day! You can wear the hat slouchy as well as fitted. Featured in four sizes, this versatile cowl/ hat will make small and big chicks to be warm and happy!

XS toddler (S child, M adult, L adult) to fit head circumference of 18 (20, 22, 24) inches/ 45.75 (50.75, 56, 61)cm.

Yarns requirements:
135 (170, 202, 246) yds/ 123 (156, 185, 225)m of worsted weight yarn.

Tapestry needle, scrap yarn, crochet hook, Yarn in contrasting color to make a pompom of
desired size (for hat, optional).
