Carreaux Crochet

The ‘Dotted Potholder’ and ‘Finding your inner circle’ are based on the same new technique that I have named Carreaux Crochet. If you are in for a challenge you don’t have to do the basic technique, but it makes it easier if you do.

With this technique you crochet a double layered patch in one go. Through a little test patch you learn how to do this. For the test you need about 25 m (10”) of yarn. At least 10 m for two different colors and about 2 m of a third color.

After that you can make a potholder of your favourite yarn at any size. You could even make a seat cushion. In the file of the ‘dotted potholder’ you will found the amount of yarn I have used for the blue-and-pink version.

Testers have come up with funny and stunning designs after doing this patch, you might want to look into their project pages to get an idea.

There is also a group for Carreaux Crochet - to share designs and ideas.
