This sock pattern was designed for the Sock Knitters Anonymous group for the March 2023 Mystery Sock, MOCK. It fits the Regional Techniques challenge.

The inspiration for this pattern is Ireland’s rich history and Aran stitches from the Aran Islands off the west coast of Ireland.
The pattern is divided into four clues to be released on March 1, 8, 15, and 22 of 2023.
Because it is designed as a mystery, no photos of the socks are present in any of the clues.

You will need:
Fingering-weight sock yarn (400-420 m / 100 g):

  • Main colour (MC): 70-100 g
  • Contrast colour (CC): 15 g

Needles: 2.0 mm and 2.25 mm or size needed to obtain correct gauge, tapestry needle and 2 stitch markers (optional). The pattern is written for magic loop, but you can use DPNs or 2 circular needles as well.

Gauge: 32 sts and 44 rds = 10 cm in stockinette (after blocking)

Many thanks for test knitting and proofreading to tiinaq, momofnation, hautecontre, knittingall, Pitsiliina, maririi and Neuloja80.
