♫ The Music ♫
The Cottage in Kilraine is a traditional ballad that relates a story of happenstance and love.
“…The mother she shook hands with me saying I hope you’ll call again; For you know you’re always welcome in a cottage in Kilraine…”

And so, welcome to socks that abound in Celtic cables with love woven in.

Note: The instep, gusset and leg stitch patterns are charted only.

Celtic cable toe-up socks that feature two distinct yet harmonized Celtic cables. These socks begin with a wide toe. After the toe shaping, the first Celtic cable is worked on the instep; it splits at the gusset and ends as it is worked into the heel flap.

The gusset shaping is worked at the centre of the instep which allows the instep cables to move along the side of the foot. The leg’s Celtic closed-ring cable grows from the gusset shaping and is flanked by tiny rope cables which meet at the side of the sock to form tiny staghorn cables.

The heel is turned using short rows so no picking up stitches! and the heel flap is worked in a standard slip-stitch pattern.

Notes are provided on adjusting foot length.

The leg pattern flows into the top ribbing and the bind off is worked using Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off (or an alternate stretchy bind off of your choice). To work the Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off given, knitters need to be able to read their knitting i.e. identify knit and purl stitches as they present themselves.

The instep, gusset and leg stitch patterns are charted only.
