Egyptian Scarf by Iris Schreier

Egyptian Scarf

This is a shallow triangle that is built quite easily from the top down, alternating stockinette and garter panels. The basic pattern can be mastered by beginners. For more intermediate/advanced knitters I’ve added an optional perpendicular detail that creates a striking balance to the long lines formed by the stripes. The perpendicular lines can slowly grow to make a deep triangle (as shown in the blue and variegated red/teal), or can remain one size to maintain the shape of the shallow triangle (as shown in the blue and yellow version)--instructions will be given for both options.

The pattern is going to be available in an upcoming book (Fall 2014). However, if you want to make this now, it is our May knitalong, and will be starting on May 1 - June 30. You will receive this pattern in parts but you must first cast on, then post a photo of the Artyarns or TSCArtyarns yarns you are using (you need 2 of these) you will be using for the pattern. Once you have posted your photo, I’ll send you part 1. When you have posted part 1, I will send you part 2, and so on. THERE IS NO DEADLINE as long as you post the completed part 1 by June 30. You can join at ANY TIME during this period.

For more information on how Artyarns knitalongs work I have created a forum here:
