These pieces all begin with a foundation double crochet, which there is a tutorial for in the pattern.

Then the ribbing is a stretchy combination of post stitches.

The colors drip into each other with more post stitches.

I have included all my notes on when I changed colors and a chart for you to make your own plans.

This would be a great project for scraps pulled together with a neutral or common color.

The measurements given are of the finished pieces. That said, the brim of the hat is VERY stretchy. The small will easily stretch to 21” / 52.5cm if worked at the gauge stated in the pattern. This will help the hat stay on the head a bit better. If you want a looser fit, go up a size. The largest hat goes over my 23” / 57.5cm head with my hair in a ponytail. The mitts are stretchy too but not quite to the point of the hat.

I suggest that you map out your round numbers with color ideas before starting. This will save some ripping. That is why I have included a color section in the table.
