Looking for pattern ideas with the new and gorgeous Caron x Pantone yarn sets? The Color Swatch Beanie has been designed specifically for this new yarn line and is a fun and quick project to let your creative side out. You can play around with colour combinations to work up a personalized slouchy beanie you’ll love to wear throughout the fall and winter months.

You’ll need one Caron x Pantone yarn set, which is 5 mini hanks of yarn that are approximately 25 yards each giving a total yardage of 127yds for the set, and you’ll need a J (6.00mm) Hook for this pattern. The yarn is classified as “bulky” however it is more like a very heavy worsted/Aran weight or very light bulky yarn. You could substitute with other yarns as long as you correctly match the gauge with an appropriate hook size to give you 12 stitches x 12 rows in a 4” x 4” area using alternating Sc & Hdc Rows/Rounds as in the pattern.

The hat uses basic crochet stitches, the sc and hdc, and some knowledge on how to change colours within a project is required to make the beanie. This pattern is worked from the bottom up and is started using the Foundation Half Double Crochet - a link to a quick YouTube video is included with the pattern to help you learn how to make the Fhdc.

The hat is One Size fits most (fits most average adult women) and measures approximately 9” tall to give a slight slouchy fit.

Thank you for your interest in the pattern, I hope you enjoy working with it!
