The Design
This cowl is crocheted flat, bottom-up and then seamed on the short side. The design consists of alternating right-leaning and left-leaning cables made by crossing 4 stitches either to the back or the front of the work on the previous 4 stitches. If this sentence does not make sense now, I hope it will after you follow the step-by-step tutorial below. What is important to understand at this point is that all the cables are made of 8 stitches in total and that they’re all crocheted in the return pass.
At the bottom and at the top of the cowl, I used a few rows of simple Tunisian rib stitch. Since the Tunisian rib stitch is a more relaxed stitch than the cables, the top and bottom of the cowl are naturally slightly wider than the body, which is ideal for a good fitting.

Size
The Concept Tunisian Crochet Cowl is available in one size for adults.
Before seaming, it measures approximately 34” (86 cm) by 11.8″ (30 cm).
After seaming, the cowl measures 14″ (36 cm) by 11.8″ (30 cm).

– 3 skeins of Katia Concept Ultralight Merino or another Super Bulky (5-6 wpi) to meet gauge
– 10.0-mm (15/N USA, 000 UK) Tunisian Crochet Hook with a wire of 105 cm (41“)
– One cable switch knitting needle
