Pattern Updated on 9/26/23! This was one of my oldest patterns and I never edited it not even once, so this update was a long time coming. If you bought the previous version and have trouble downloading the updated version, please let me know (have your order number ready, please). I’ve cleaned it up for general readability and did a lot of work on clarity. I added a ton of pictures to help with assembly as well as video links. I hopefully covered all of the questions I got about it over the years!

The PATTERN is in US English.

This 29-page PDF explains how to make this crocheted Claptrap. It includes the written pattern as well as links to companion videos to help with assembly. It also has a ton of pictures! But it is an INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED pattern. NOT RECOMMENDED FOR BEGINNERS. Many many many many parts.

Materials and Supplies
• Worsted weight yarn in yellow, white, black, blue, red, and gray - mostly yellow and black (less than a 7oz skein of each)
• Stuffing material
• Size F crochet hook
• Yarn needle
• Pins (optional, but recommended for positioning the parts before attaching – I use bobby pins)
• Stitch marker (optional, most rounds are continuous)
• Armature wire (optional), only needed if you want to wire the arms or antenna - I did not. 2mm should work though.

Abbreviations/Skills Needed
• Ch: chain
• Sc: single crochet
• Sl: slip stitch
• Dc: double crochet
• Inc: increase
• Dec: decrease
• St/sts: stitch/stitches
• Rnd/rnds: round/rounds
• FLO: front loops only
• BLO: back loops only
Sewing needed: a lot of running stitch. Some parts can be attached with whip stitch, but for the most part, I used running. Blanket stitch can be used for some things. Do what you prefer and what you think looks best.
All inc and dec are sc. All rnds are continuous, unless specified.
Also, a little surface crochet.
Gauge: approx. 4 sts/in and 4 rows/in. but gauge is not all that important.
Finished Claptrap as patterned is about 9” tall with a 4” antenna – change your hook size and/or yarn weight to make changes to the finished size.
