An easy crochet cowl designed for The Knitting Goddess Chunky, DK or 4ply yarns.

The original Mirrored Linen Stitch Cowl was knitted, and in response to many requests, I have produced this crochet version.

The pattern is worked in the round, using one colour at a time and is an ideal project for adventurous beginners and more experienced crocheters alike.

YARN, NEEDLES & NOTIONS

Choose the weight of yarn you want to make your cowl in and match it with the correct tools as given below:

The Knitting Goddess BFL Chunky Roving (Chunky weight; 100% Blue Faced Leicester wool; 150m/164yds per 100g skein): 2 x 100g skeins in strongly contrasting colours. Cowl shown is worked in Semi-Solid Orange and Semi-Solid Silver (top row).
8mm (US L/11) hook or size needed to obtain correct tension.

OR

The Knitting Goddess BFL DK (DK weight; 100% Blue Faced Leicester wool; 225m/246yds per 100g skein): 2 x 100g skeins in strongly contrasting colours. Cowl shown is worked in Semi-Solid Copper and Semi-Solid Teal (middle row).
6mm (US J/10) hook or size needed to obtain correct tension.

OR

The Knitting Goddess 4ply Sock (4ply/Fingering weight; 75% British wool, 25% nylon; 400m/437 yds per 100g skein): 2 x 100g skeins in strongly contrasting colours. Cowl shown is worked in Semi-Solid Lime and Dragonfly (bottom row).
4mm (US G/6) crochet hook or size needed to obtain correct tension.

AND for all versions
You will also need a locking stitch marker and a tapestry needle for weaving in ends.

TENSION
Chunky: 7 linen stitches and 16 rows to 10cm (4in)
DK: 9 linen stitches and 20 rows to 10cm (4in)
4ply: 13 linen stitches and 29 rows to 10cm (4in)
Note: 1 linen stitch = 1dc + 1ch in ch-space.
Correct tension is not essential, but any differences will alter the finished size of the cowl and the amount of yarn required.
