A Scottish Hap is a heavy shawl worked in a square and folded over on the diagonal. Traditionally it was also used as a lapghan or baby blanket. The Scottish Hap is unique in its structure in that it is first worked as a solid square. Afterward an extended lace edging is added.

Skill Level: Intermediate

Gauge: 18 sts x 15 rows = 4 inches

Finished Size: Approximately 42 x 42 inches

Yarn: Touch of Alpaca by Lion Brand™ (90% Acrylic/ 10% Alpaca; 200g / 7 oz, 380 meters / 415 yards; weight: 4 - Medium Weight); Three Balls of Colour A: Dusty Blue; Two Balls of Colour B: Fisherman.

Hook: 5 mm (US H/8)
