What better way to keep hands warm while building the perfect island, catching up with your favorite villagers, and digging up fossils than a pair of iconic leafy mitts? This quick knit was born of my abiding love for all things Animal Crossing.

I love pairing a soft, woolen yarn with half-twist rib (my favorite!) - the resulting texture is subtly “nubbly” and interesting, quite different from regular or twisted rib. And of course a woolen yarn creates the most lightweight fabric that still provides a comforting layer against the chill.

CONSTRUCTION NOTES
Mitts are worked identically, in the round, from the bottom up, beginning with a half-twist rib cuff.
Thumb gusset shaping is worked in colorwork pattern, then thumb stitches are placed on hold to finish colorwork and half-twist rib for hand.
Thumb stitches are returned to needles and finished in half-twist rib.
Work all single-color rounds in the charts using the smaller size needles.
Color held in dominant position for stranded colorwork is specified alongside the charts.
