This pattern is for a crocheted toy.
Attention: the toy contains a wire frame inside, therefore it is not intended for children under 7 years old.
The head, strip of back spikes and chest armor are sewn to the body with a needle. The dragon arms and legs are attached to the body with cotter pins or button fastening. The body, tail and wings are crocheted as a single part.
The mask, horns and cheek spikes located on the head are sewn on with a needle.

Toys dimensions:
(the numbers after a slash is for the larger yellow dragon)

 - height (without the horns) = 23/ 36 cm ( 9/14”)
 - wingspan = 27/ 37 cm ( 10.6/14.5”)
 - the body length from the head to the tail = 33/ 53 cm ( 13/21”)

The difficulty level is advanced, the pattern is not intended for beginners.

The pattern includes 36 pages and a lot of step-by-step photos (the album in Google Photos with large photos is available by the links)

The materials you need:
Yarn:

  • for the smaller (red and blue) dragons - acrylic + cotton yarn (55-45%), 100g/600m (hook 1.5 mm)
  • for the larger yellow dragon - acrylic + cotton yarn 100g/330m (hook 3mm)
  • white yarn for teeth (a little) that is not thicker than your main yarn

Of course, you can work with any yarn, but the final dimensions of your toy may change.

Yarn colors:
you can use yarn of any color in any combination. In total, you will need 50g for the smaller dragon or 100g for the larger one. I used 3 shades of the main yarn. I recommend (if possible) to use 2 tones of the same color and one more contrasting yarn for stripes on the muzzle, wings and spikes on the body.

You will also need:
plastic eyes 10mm or 12-15mm, depending of the toy size

wire for wireframe:
- for the fingers: d = 1-1.2 mm (length - 0.6-1m)
- for limbs, wings and body: d = 1.5 mm (for the smaller dragon)
d= 2 mm (for the larger dragon)
- length 2.0-2.5 m (or less if do not insert the frame into the body)

to attach the limbs you need:

  • simpler and cheaper option - thick cardboard or plastic, a needle and strong thread
  • more reliable, expensive option - cotter pins, discs and washers. The size of these details depend on your yarn, see instructions in the pattern

Other materials - as usual: filler, adhesive tape for wrapping the wireframe, strong thread, PVA and fast drying glue.
