This shawl was thought of when I wanted to experiment with lace. Lace already makes such a delicate fabric with all of the yarn overs and perfectly placed decreases and increases. Of course yarn choice also plays its part, and a thin yarn is usually preferable. What happens though when that same thin yarn is also used with overly large needles? Darkening Shawl explores that concept and those same yarn overs become huge holes in the fabric and even the parts that are simply stockinette become lace on their own. Tested across different yarn weights, it has used approximately 400 yds (366 m), so in some cases, you’d only need one skein!

approximately 366 m/400 yds of lace, fingering, sport, or dk weight yarn
